In a Hindu ceremony, the groom shows up first, with lots of pomp and pageantry, and takes the stage. Some poojas are done, coconuts are broken, and then the bride makes her entrance. The bride makes two entrances in a Hindu wedding, the second takes place after she is given, and has changed into, a sari from the grooms side to wear. In some weddings the bride will come out veiled initially, and will remain veiled till her second entrance — or it might be till the taali is tied around her neck and the bride and groom are officially married.
