Study suggests some couples in Canada practising prenatal sex selection in favour of male fetuses. ⇒

The Globe’s headline is polite: the studies are about Indian immigrants.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. I don’t quite understand why this is such a big story. Shouldn’t women be allowed to have abortions regardless of the reason? Or should they have their reasons reviewed by a citizen’s committee deciding whether it is appropriate?

  2. That’s the rub, right. Most people who are going to argue against sex selection are probably the same people arguing for women to have full control over access to abortions. I’m sure it’s discussed in a medical ethics class or something.

  3. A good follow up from Ms. Balkissooon.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google": will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
