The Clash Over the Poincaré Conjecture. ⇒

   16 January 2018, early evening

An old article from 2006 about the drama and squabbling behind the proof of the Poincaré Conjecture. My friend Terry sent it to me. It’s a fascinating read, even if you aren’t into mathematics.

The Fields Medal held no interest for him, Perelman explained. “It was completely irrelevant for me,” he said. “Everybody understood that if the proof is correct then no other recognition is needed.”

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google": will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
