South Asian still doesn't make the cut for ethnic groups. Seriously? Seatle and San Fran have to be filled full of brown people.

I’d say in general that minorities in the US identify with being American more than whatever-else-they-might-be. Or at least, this is true of “East Asians” as well — the cultural character of an ABC is vastly different from that of a CBC.

I get that same impression as well. The whole melting pot thing I suppose.
Anyway, my only issue is that it’s an obnoxious question to ask if you aren’t going to be comprehensive. You can’t identify as being Middle Eastern either so Shima and I would both identify as “Other”. Other is the best word they could come up with? Fuck you, A List Apart.
