$20 vs $50 for Persian New Year

When I was a kid, for Persian new years if I went over to someone’s house I sometimes got a $20 bill. Now that I’m old I feel that it is only right for me to give kids that come over money for Persian New Year. So I’m trying to figure out how much I should give them? I mean, right now, I only know two kids that would be potential candidates. One is nine years old and the other is about 13. Should I give them a $20 bill each, or $50 bill? I mean $50 seems like a lot. How much inflation has there been since I was a kid?

(Just to put things into perspective, my dad use to give Ali and I a nickel for each length of the swimming pool we swam.. So I’d have to do a million laps to get $20!)

Wow a nickel to swim the length of the swimming pool, that is nuts. How many laps would you usually do? I would give $20, $50 seems like a lot for a kid. My parents give me $50 for my birthday.

    wow your dad is progressive!
i think $20 dollars would suffice – and thanks in advance – I take cash and cheques.

I agree: we’d have to have some crazy inflation for the amount kids get for Persian New Year to increase 250%.

lol my dad used to give me $5 if I climbed a tree just cause I was such a sissy.. but yeah $20 is more than enough especially since you don’t have kids of your own yet :)
