TTC, the Better Way... only
if you have no other means of transportation or you’re just using it for a few stops.
When I use to live in Waterloo I would look forward to my trips on the subway. It was my weekly dose of multiculturalism and a “real, functional” public transit system, that was before I knew any better.
Fast forward a few months and I’m back in Toronto living at home and forced to take public transit every single day. At first it was real nice, I must admit. It’s December, and I’m not enjoying it one bit! Today it took me two hours to get from my parent’s place in North York down to campus. That is ridiculous by anyones standards. As usual, something was wrong at some station on the Yonge line and trains had to wait until they got the okay from switchboard. We spent 20 minutes at Eglinton station waiting and waiting. I wasn’t so annoyed today since for the first time I didn’t have a meeting or interview or anything pressing to get to. But I could see the frustration building up on the train car I was in. (In the last three months I’ve been late for a meeting with the prof I TA for, an interview, and for a date with the people at the Business district all thanks to the TTC)
You can screw with people only so much before they decide that the TTC isn’t the better way! Thankfully, I can’t afford a car and I sometimes can carpool with Roshi.
(I’m not really angry.. I mean the TTC does as much as it can given the resources it has. I just wish they had more funding..)
