- America Is Not For Black People.
By all accounts, Brown was One Of The Good Ones. But laying all this out, explaining all the ways in which he didn’t deserve to die like a dog in the street, is in itself disgraceful. Arguing whether Brown was a good kid or not is functionally arguing over whether he specifically deserved to die, a way of acknowledging that some black men ought to be executed.
I try so hard to not pay attention to what’s going on in the US, because I remember when this site was all just me calling America a mother-fucker, but seriously, “America: you are a mother fucker.”

- "You can convince me that a guy can shake a staff and make it rain locusts but I refuse to believe someone who grew up in Egypt in the sun doesn’t have a tan at least."
Ridley Scott is making a film about the Exodus story in the bible. Also its casting is apparently racist as all hell. The trailer looks pretty crazy, though.

- Podcasting patent troll: We tried to drop lawsuit against Adam Carolla.
Planet Money did a postcast about this patent last summer. It’s great when people stand up to patent trolls. Carolla’s goal is to invalidate the patent. Nice.

When you talk to someone who wants to tell you about learning Haskell because of the gorgeous purity of the language or something, remember that what that person contributes to the world are fucking iPhone apps about denim washes.
This is great. On programming as a job.

- Overcrowded streetcars, uninterested drivers part of the rolling horror show on Queen.
I took the streetcar to my brother-in-law’s place in Leslieville yesterday. My office is at Queen and University, his home is at Queen and Leslie. The trip took an hour and a half. To put that in perspective, I can make it to my parents house in Scarborough in less time. When I asked people how I should get out to Leslieville from downtown, they recommend taking the subway North to Bloor, East to Pape, and then taking the Pape bus south to Leslieville. I’m pretty sure that’d have shaved 45 minutes off my trip, easily. What a joke. The Queen Streetcar is a disaster right now.

- Hospital Podcast MC Fats “We Gotcha†special.
This is probably one of the bests podcasts put out by Hospital Records so far. I didn’t realize they were trying to raise awareness about MC Fats recent battle with diabetes. Like your drum and bass soulful? You should grab these two albums to support MC Fats, the original soulful dumb and bass MC: We Gotcha 1 and We Gotcha 2
