Blansdowne Buttons FTW!

I always take note when Blansdowne is used in the popular press. I’ve been trying to get people to call my neighbourhood Blansdowne for a while now. It’s actually been far more successful a venture than I had imagined. BlogTO started calling the aera Blansdowne ages ago. (You can see me in the comments patting myself on the back.) Torontoist followed suit some time later. Even TorontoLife has used the name, though somewhat incorrectly—they are so lame. Today I learned that Spacing is making Blansdowne buttons. Not stupid-ass Bloordale Village buttons, but Blansdowne buttons.

That’s what I’m talking about, people.

  • Poll suggests Ford's support is plummeting. 

    He campaigned on a gravy train, none was found and the reality of cuts to services that residents rely on, often daily, is setting in. That has shaken public confidence in his ability to handle the job of mayor.

    This sort of thing really only matters if it causes him to change his course with respect to these cut backs and other stupid policy decisions he’s made thus far. (Or, perhaps more importantly, if it gets some of the more useless councillors on city council to distance themselves from Ford in order to protect their seats in the next elections—a million years form now.)

    I’m participating in the Run for the Cure again this year. (This year I may even run instead of walk!) Please donate to the cause. A shocking number of women die of Breast Cancer each year.

  • Trello: Organize anything, together. 

    A tricked-out ‘lists’ application of sorts. You could use this to manage an agile software development project, but it looks to be very versatile.

  • City arts grants at risk. 

    I can’t wait till there is nothing nice left in the city. I also have to ask: If you don’t like the amenities of a big city, why live in one?

  • Doug Ford’s waterfront sells us out for the short-term money. 

    We can’t tell what’s the worst thing about Doug Ford’s vision for the waterfront: the tackiness of the concept, its ignorance of effective city-building, the back-room nature of the dealings or the fact that it makes no sense financially.

    That’s a great sub-heading.
