A painting of me

If the radiance of a thousand suns
Were to burst at once into the sky
That would be like the splendor of the Mighty one…
I am become Death,
The shatterer of Worlds.
Baghavad-Gita

  1. Who did the translation on that one? It’s heavy.

  2. I stumbled on the quote while reading a Metafilter thread on those crazy new Toshiba batteries. I haven’t seen it translated so eloquently before. I am betting it’s from the recent translation of the book—the author is famous for translating works such as the Gita.

  3. I was wondering what was going on when I saw that passage twice within a few minutes…

I was in the gym and was listening to the shuffle. I partially autofilled it from my entire library so one of the tracks was that Nitin Sawhney one from Beyond Skin that samples the famous Oppenheimer clip. It was a weird moment listening to that there.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
