If the radiance of a thousand suns
Were to burst at once into the sky
That would be like the splendor of the Mighty one…
I am become Death,
The shatterer of Worlds.
—Baghavad-Gita

Who did the translation on that one? It’s heavy.

I stumbled on the quote while reading a Metafilter thread on those crazy new Toshiba batteries. I haven’t seen it translated so eloquently before. I am betting it’s from the recent translation of the book—the author is famous for translating works such as the Gita.

I was wondering what was going on when I saw that passage twice within a few minutes…
I was in the gym and was listening to the shuffle. I partially autofilled it from my entire library so one of the tracks was that Nitin Sawhney one from Beyond Skin that samples the famous Oppenheimer clip. It was a weird moment listening to that there.
