She’s a clever kind of girl
hailing from suburbia.
She daydreams of travelling abroad.
She knows it isn’t everyday
this kind of magic comes her way.
She’s crossing her fingers that he is the reason
there are stars in the sky
with the moon hanging by,
and the boy of her dreams in her arms.
He leans a little closer
as he gets to know her.
She’s smiling and he is in love.
The Shoestrings are excellent. This song is so sappy but thoroughly enjoyable. Here are the whole lyrics.
He’s got his lucky sweater on,
and his favorite trousers on.
He’s parted his hair to the side.
He rehearses what to say
then tries to find a better way.
He will not be tongue-tied tonight.
There are stars in the sky
with the moon hanging by,
and the girl of his dreams in his arms.
She thinks he’s very charming,
and not a bit alarming.
He’s Swedish and she is in love.
She’s a clever kind of girl
hailing from suburbia.
She daydreams of travelling abroad.
She knows it isn’t everyday
this kind of magic comes her way.
She’s crossing her fingers that he is the reason
there are stars in the sky
with the moon hanging by,
and the boy of her dreams in her arms.
He leans a little closer
as he gets to know her.
She’s smiling and he is in love.
The first kiss is a magical wish.
Hold on tight,
the moment is right.
The first kiss is a magical wish.
Hold on tight
and never let go…
There are stars in the sky
with the moon hanging by.
They are happy in each other’s arms.
That’s the way that love goes
in these kind of musicals.
We hope that you enjoy the show!

I couldn’t agree more.
Only two of The Shoestrings songs have I heard (the other being Summer Days) and loved ‘em both.
You don’t happen to know what “Kiss Me Goodnight” is though do you? I’ve been trying to figure out if this is some old musical or something, but apparently my google-fu is weak.

Sorry Peter, but I also have wondered what “Kiss Me Goodnight” could be. I’ve also tried searching the internet with little luck.

after about 4 years of searching for an answer to this, i am assuming that it is not a song from an old musical, but rather just a remark on how sugary the song is. It probably reminded them of something from a musical when writing it, which prompted the last few lines, and also aided to the naming.

I first heard this song on the now defunct indienow.com and it found a place in my soul to live ever since.
I almost want to right a musical around it and get the shoestrings to participate.
I heard they have a cover of “massachusets” by the beegees out there somewhere too.

The Shoestrings are now Invisible Twin. Their new stuff is great, but they still haven’t put out an album.
