War of the Worlds
2 July 2005, the wee hours
Shima wanted to watched Bewitched today. When we arrived at the cinema, it had already begun, and the next show wouldn’t start for quite some time. So, we watched my film choice, which was War of the Worlds. I haven’t read the book, so I don’t know how far it strays from the novel. I thought the films plot was good enough anyway. The special effects are great. I feel like playing Half-Life 2 after watching the movie; there is something similar about the aliens in the movie and the aliens in the game. The film is very fast paced, and the action basically starts right away. I think the film is worth checking out—Shima disagrees.
it was super sucky.. EWWWW! You owe me another movie date! 8o| and we better watch Bewitched!

I just came back from War of the Worlds. I agree that it was fast-paced; too fast, perhaps. The characters really didn’t develop – and the end is a bit of a cop-out. All in all, I agree with Shima. :)

Well that’s how the book ends as well, though I agree the ending may work better in a book than a 2 hour movie. But the movie isn’t a drama, it’s a film with lots of explosions, and as films with lots of explosions go, I think this one stands above the rest.

The short story was better. And I haven’t seen the movie yet.
Spielberg out did himself in ‘Minority Report’. I don’t expect anything substantial from here for a few more years.
