- In oral arguments for the Texas abortion case, the three female justices upend the Supreme Court’s balance of power.
#On one side, you have a group of testy male justices needling a female lawyer for Texas clinics about whether it was even appropriate for them to hear this appeal. On the other, you’ve got four absolutely smoking hot feminists pounding on Texas’ solicitor general for passing abortion regulations that have no plausible health purpose and also seem pretty stupid.
- The rise of American authoritarianism.
Everything happening now seems like the natural progression of what the Republican party has been like since Bush took office.

- Donald Trump and the Ku Klux Klan.
I had underestimated how far you could get as a presidential candidate by being a full on white supremacist in the US. (Which was stupid on my part, of course.)

- Angry Robot: Something Important Happened.
This is the first part of a five (maybe six?) part series about the death of my father that I started five years ago, shortly after it happened. It’s heavy! I won’t feel bad if you avoid reading it. But, the reason I share it here is that it might be helpful for those of you who have not gone through the death of a parent. It will probably happen to you at some point! It will not be exactly like my experience, but there may be similarities.
I feel like the Angry Robot goes through cycles where he does proper-ass blogging, and they are always good.

- Towers Two.
I backed this book back in 2012. It was part of this crazy scheme to publish a bunch of D&D modules. What makes it interesting? It’s written by Dave Brockie, who was also known as Oderus Urungus from the band GWAR. What? It’s pretty crazy—juvenile and inappropriate. The art is by Jeremy Duncan and Brockie himself, and it’s also crazy.

- Robert Caro Wonders What New York Is Going To Become.
(via Kottke) #Moses didn’t want poor people, particularly poor people of color, to use Jones Beach, so they had legislation passed forbidding the use of buses on parkways. Then he had this quote, and I can still hear him saying it to me. “Legislation can always be changed. It’s very hard to tear down a bridge once it’s up.” So he built 180 or 170 bridges too low for buses.

- Write code that is easy to delete, not easy to extend.

- Upside Down & Inside Out.
OK GO made a video in zero gravity. Of course they did. They have a great FAQ of how it was all done on their website. “A lot of our crew got sick; over the 21 flights, there were 58 puke events.” That’s dedication.
