Nilay Patel, who was formally a copyright attorney before being formally an editor at Engadget, writes about Apple’s recent suit against Samsung.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. Apple is calling dibs on a rectangular product shape with all four corners uniformly rounded? Seriously? There first claim is describing a Kleenex box.

I just skimmed the article, but did you see Samsung F700 (February 2007) vs iPhone

  2. Was the F700 actually shown in 2006? I can’t find anything online about it prior to its official press announcement on Feb 8th, 2007 where everyone even then calls it an iPhone ripoff.

  3. Yeah, it’s funny seeing how everyones phones changed post-iPhone. These sorts of lawsuits seem obnoxious, but when you look at those Samsung products it is pretty obvious where they are getting their inspiration (and then some) from. I guess you can still be successful playing the Pepsi to Apple’s Coke.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
