Mac text editor BBEdit hits version 9. ⇒

28 August 2008, late at night

I used BBEdit all through university. Now I use TextMate. I'm not sure if that makes me lame or not. A short review.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. I use textmate. I have used bbedit a few times at school, but still prefer textmate.

  2. I have this feeling that BBEdit is the choice for people that used Macs pre-OSX, and TextMate is the choice for people who started after. Mind you, I get the sense TextMate does way more shit, and is much easier to extend.

  3. Also, large file support in BBEdit and TextWrangler is way better, though this isn’t something most people need too often.

I remember when it didn’t have good project support.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
