A painting of me

YouTube: Colin Powell Endorses Barack Obama on Meet the Press. ⇒

   19 October 2008, early evening

He has some nice things to say about Obama, and some not so nice things to say about his own party. His informal remarks after the official announcement are good too.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. This almost makes me respect him again. It is amazing that no other major American political figure (that I know of) has really articulated what he did here – no, Obama isn’t a muslim, but why should it make a difference if he was?

Although I guess he has nothing to lose now, so maybe it isn’t that impressive.

  2. It’s still disappointing Obama himself can’t make a bigger deal out of this, but there seems to be so much not-so closet racism down South that I guess it’d just get turned into some Republican attack ad. Ennis from Sepia Mutiny was saying he doesn’t go door-to-door to campaign for Obama because it’d probably do more harm than good, what with him being a brown dude.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
