Kensington Market Brews Both Storms and Coffee. ⇒

   27 April 2009, early afternoon

A half-assed essay on gentrification in Kensington. And really, that area is already quite gentrified. (Or is it only gentrification when yuppies displace artists and hipsters, not when artists and hipsters displace ethnic folk.)

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. I always thought gentrification boiled down to displacement of low-income residents by high-income residents. If the artists were broke and were living in Kensington for reasons of cost, the term probably still applies.

Of course, I could also be way off.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
