  1. “Council adopted an interim control by-law for a planning policy review of Ossington Avenue between Queen Street west and Dundas Street west prohibiting new restaurants and similar uses for one year. It was moved by Councillor Joe Pantalone and seconded by Councillor Kyle Rae. Planning staff will undertake a study of the area looking at the impact of restaurants and similar uses on Ossington Avenue between the two main intersections. Staff will also evaluate whether the current zoning provisions are sufficient or if there is a need for amendments and report back.” – NRU 090529

  2. Shima, I was being sarcastic, I know he was talking about Ossington. He lives on Ossington, for starters.

  3. um. yeah I know that you know. But won’t he be glad to know that there won’t be any more restaurants and similar uses for one year until staff can figure out if the “zonning provisions are sufficient”?

  4. I was a bit relieved to hear that, to tell you the truth. Obviously not everything you read in that strip is my personal opinion, but yeah, we’ve watched that block go through some big changes.

  5. I had no idea what street the comic was talking about.

  6. There are a ton of streets that fit that profile. “ZOMG They’re openning <insert random store here>. It’s going to ruin the neighbourhood!”
If somebody is already looking to open a <insert random store here> on your street, your neighbourhood has already been ‘ruined’ long before then.

  7. Matt’s complaint isn’t about the street being ruined though, it’s about trying to start a new clubbing district in a residential neighbourhood. There are a shit load of new bars on that road, and most of them probably opened in the last year or so.

  8. I hate to be the guy who talks about his “art” or whatever, but Iluvitar does have a point. I did try to write this strip so that it could just as easily be about any street, and I intentionally went hysterical on the dialogue, just because that’s often how it sounds in real life. But I do think curtailing new development in this case might be a good idea.

  9. Matt’s follow-up comic is funny.

  10. hahaha.. That’s awesome. I like.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
