This is outrageous. Even if the total interned is indeed 300,000 (which is absolutely horrifying in and of itself), and the death toll per week is 1,400 a week… I’m probably wrong with my math, but that’s like 250,000 people dying in Toronto a week. Which is obviously beyond a national emergency situation… it’s insane. Do you think that number is true?
Man, I can’t imagine how that feels for you. All kinds of sorry.

I’m pretty the 300,000 number is correct, and isn’t disputed by any parties. I think the deaths aside, that’s ridiculous. The 1400 i’m not so sure. Even if that’s on the high side, my guess is there are probably a lot of people dying a week. And the situation is man made, which is all the worse.

No one gives a shit about Tamils. Get over it.
[ed. Anyone know what the deal is with Sinhalese people in Australia? Man, that country sucks.]

Indi claims the death rate is way lower, closer to 5-6 a day. I’m guessing the real number is somewhere between his number and the Times number.
Hopefully UTHR(J) will produce a follow-up to their last report. They seem to be the best source for information since they seem to hate all the players in the war equally.
