Campbell Park anti-dumping protest: it was a circus. ⇒
17 July 2009, early morning
It's interesting to compare how much news coverage Jack's protest received compared to the coverage the Sri Lankan war protests received. The Sri Lankan war protests were probably some of the biggest protests in the city, ever, but they didn't make the news till they started disrupting traffic. I don't think they were covered on TV till they stormed the Gardiner.
This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.
Seems to me that Jack learned a thing or two from the Sri Lankan protests.

He’s too nice a guy to actually be disruptive, though. And he has a good relationship with the police force, so I can’t imagine he’ll actually be disruptive if they asked him not to be. I know some of the organizers of the Christie Pitts protests. They are a lot more hardcore. Still, neither group can really get people out.

Do you think those protests of the dumps really make a difference?
Other than Christie Pitts, I mean…

No. I don’t think the Christie Pitts one made a difference either. I mean, they still filled it up with garbage. They just seem like an excuse for the media to go out and pretend there is a story.
