I also saw that yesterday and for a few minutes was very much thinking about how I might want one. But then.. it was like, why do I want one? I don’t really care about blueray movies (seems pointless to me) and as for games, I couldn’t really think off hand of any that were worth 300 + the cost of an HD TV to read the often 12pt text in modern games.
I have a tv right now, but it’s an old boxy ancient one with a small screen. It’s basically around just for my wii and ps2 and the free cable I get in my apartment.

Blueray movies look gorgeous. What’s pointless about them? I don’t think i’ve seen a HD video that rivals what comes on those plastic discs.
My brother has a PS3, which he uses to play Rockband.

high definition movies are pretty sweet. it’s hard to go back once you’ve lived with a movie buff who only rents blu-ray.

Yeah the new ps3 is dirt cheap. Only complaint I have about it is you can’t run linux on it. Besides that it is beautiful!

to defend my earlier point,
back at my parents home, they’ve got an ultra sony 46~” HD TV, and blueray movies on it (when our cousin brought his ps3 over a few times) do indeed look awesomely high def and sound impressive. The movie however was 300, and whether it’s blueray 1080p or whatever, if the movie itself is something I find boring or uninteresting, extra lines of resolution are probably not going to do to much to change that for me Personally. & Vice Versa, I thought Batman Begins was awesome both in theaters and on a regular TV.
That, and I’ve gotten spoiled by having digital copies of movies either streaming or on my hard drive – it’s sort of like mp3 (lesser quality but higher convenience) vs those SuperAudioCDs Sony tried to push years ago.
