A painting of me

Curse of the boomer hegemony. ⇒

   11 December 2009, lunch time

“There’s no stopping the ‘me’ generation. In the ’60s they got all the good drugs, in the ’70s all the sex, in the ’80s all the money, and now, in the waning days of the aughts, they won’t let go of all the jobs. It’s goes without saying that during the next decade they’ll gobble up all the good healthcare.”

  1. so maybe now we need another big war to create another baby boom?

    That’s the way life goes.

I suppose that we should vote in euthanasia so that all of our seniors (parents and grandparents) don’t drain the health system that they’ve paid into their whole lives while we inherit everything they’ve accumulated.

When I read this kind of thing, it just makes me sad. Have you seen the senior citizen greeters at walmart?

Those are the people who can’t make ends meet in the sunset of their lives. I can’t imagine that this is what they thought they’d have to do at the age of 70 to survive.

Why should anyone have to retire if they still want to work?

I highly doubt the writer would do it in his twilight if he couldn’t afford to.

  2. Yes, I read his update.

He backtracked a bit there by saying that he was a tail end boomer himself and that he himself probably won’t retire.

A little bit of a contradiction if you ask me.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
