A painting of me

Finding Dolly Freed. ⇒

   12 January 2010, early morning

“In 1978, at age eighteen, she wrote Possum Living, a frugal-living book that made her briefly famous amid an infamous economy. Then she went off the grid in the most unexpected of ways—she went mainstream. Now Dolly—and her book—are back.” This is also an interesting example of journalism via a tip-jar. Paige Williams paid for the costs associated with producing this article on her own, and is hoping to recoup those costs now that the article has been published online. “I’m self-publishing this story because it had no other home. I wanted it to live in the world, not die in my notebook.”

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
