“The thing about Toronto — about being a person of color in Toronto — is that it’s easy to forget how different the rest of the country is, how much more blatant the racism is everywhere else. I remember realising this soon after I moved to Kingston. Then I moved back to Toronto and though I tried to keep the lesson in mind, I forgot it again.”

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
