He’s a brave man and lucky enough to be able to even consider going back.
I don’t know if in a few more years I’d even feel the need to go back, I hardly remember anything and I don’t feel like I’d belong there… Not that I feel like I belong here either.

The Time Magazine here has a great article about Iran today. How the mullahs basically bought the new generation by loosening control on lifestyles. The younger generation enjoy the clubbing scene and are not interested in politics. Who needs free speech when you can get wasted and party hard?
Its basically what is happening in China (and something Stephenson talked about in one of his articles). People are drinking the economic kool-aid and could care less that to the Chinese govt, they are expendable.
