A short op-ed on what makes us happy. Some of these tidbits are interesting:

According to one study, joining a group that meets even just once a month produces the same happiness gain as doubling your income. According to another, being married produces a psychic gain equivalent to more than $100,000 a year.

David Brooks argues that as a society we invest time and energy on perusing the wrong goals. Governments are interested in economic trends, but not so much in social ones, which are arguably more important.

  1. I seriously think that I am a much happier person because I see my karate people two/three times a week and I wouldn’t change that for the world.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
