Is it bad that the election outcome I'm most excited about is just the damned thing being done? ⇒

Matt (more or less) makes the case for Smitherman. Unsurprisingly, I disagree with a bunch of his arguments, but he’s certainly not the only one making them. I think it will suck if Ford wins, because the guy is a giant dumbaclot. I just don’t think that’s reason enough to vote for Smitherman. Maybe the crazy-ignorant people who want to drive cars into bicyclists deserve their day in the sun? I’ve certainly enjoyed the 7 years of awesome that was Miller’s take on the city.
This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.
I appreciated your take on this in the comments. I was indeed trying to pay respect to both arguments, even while pushing my own choice in a subtle and hopefully not too passive aggressive fashion.
Personally, I felt that Smitherman was “good enough,” more or less. The electorate didn’t agree, and there you go.
The bright side of Ford’s runaway victory, I think, is that we won’t spend a bunch of time bickering with each other about who should have voted for who; it’s pretty clear that even if there had been much, much more unification on the left behind a single candidate, it wouldn’t have made a difference.
