  1. People shrug at a few brown people having their civil liberties shat on because they don’t imagine they’ll be next. It’s what happens when people take their rights for granted and don’t understand those rights are maintained only as long as they’re protected for everyone. I don’t know how how steep this slipper slope is, but right now I’m not optimistic.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
