A copywriter writes about her experience using a male pseudonym when applying for (and getting) copy writing work. I knew a girl who would use her Chinese name when applying for jobs because you couldn’t infer her gender from the name.

  1. Interesting. I know a Jamaican couple who purposely named their children very British/generic names so that their race could not be determined by their names.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
