Retracted autism study an 'elaborate fraud,' British journal finds. ⇒

   6 January 2011, late morning

So, the study just wasn’t shitty, it was straight up fraudulent. Hopefully this will shut up the stupids.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. I’m all about vaccines as long as they don’t leave that weird imprint on your skin. :s

  2. I love that imprint.

  3. I know you do… but it’s so icky. :s

  4. We used to call our imprints “the sign of the immigrant”
    LOL

Thank goodness they exposed that study…now, if Jim Carrey’s ex would just sit down, that would be great.

  5. I used to feel like all the stupid people should shut up too, and then met an intelligent mother (charlie’s autistic best friend) who wasn’t stupid at all, or bitter, or just wanting someone to blame, who watched her son change over night after receiving the shot.
Once you’ve actually met someone who has experience with this and/or you have a child who is quite possibly on the spectrum, and you do your own research, you’ll find the fear has nothing to do with this asshole who did the study, My fear comes from all the stories i’ve heard of this happening to real people. Friends and friends of friends. Its too close to home and its completely not worth the risk. These mothers aren’t liars and I don’t think it’s all that coincidental. Just because they haven’t found a link doesn’t necessarily mean there isn’t one.

  6. I think one issue is that the time you are done your shots is also the time a whole bunch of developmental changes take place in children.

In Canada and the Western world people really do have the luxury of not vaccinating their children if they don’t want, because there aren’t really any serious out breaks of these childhood diseases. The thing is, that’s only because everyone has been vaccinating their children for so long. We are lucky in Canada that we don’t have to swap stories about children catching the measles or polio anymore. I don’t even know what an Iron Lung looks like, while my grade school math teacher walked with a limp because his legs were so twisted because he survived polio as a child. I think people forget that side of things.

  7. You’re right about 1 year of age being a time of developmental milestones. That is exactly what every doctor will tell you when you question the vaccine. But with autism children don’t just change overnight. By one year of age babies have HUGE personalities. In the situations i’ve mentioned these babies personalities have just shut down overnight. And ya ya ya I know it sounds overly dramatic and I’m sure you’re rolling your eyes. (I did too). But all you have to do is know someone and do a little extra research.
By the way, both my boys are (almost) up to date on their vaccinations, I’m not a complete stupid. But for the record if I could ever go back in time I would never give my newborn baby all the shots I did in that short of a period of time. Why does my 8 week old baby need a tetanus shot? Can’t I just wait until it’s walking? Yes I can! just sayin..

You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
