The Joys of Blocking People. ⇒

   27 March 2012, early afternoon

I don’t block too many people on Twitter. (I do report everyone who looks remotely shady that follows me as a spammer, though.) If you’re following people you feel the need to block, you’re probably doing something wrong.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. During the height of the gun registry debate, which I tweeted about more often than I probably should have, I heard from a fellow who said that for all their liberal posturing, Canadians for Gun Control were violating his right to free speech. I asked him how, and he explained that they had blocked his tweets.

Well, no, that’s not the same thing at all. “I have a right to my opinions” does not equal “Everyone has to listen to every dumb, ignorant thing that comes out of my mouth.”

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
