The Toronto Star: Are we ready for torture by proxy? ⇒

   17 July 2005, mid-afternoon

I would like to think this isn't a question that needs to be asked. If Canadians don't support the methods used in Syria to gleam 'information' from prisoners, then why should we as Canadians support this form of rendition. We shouldn't let the Canadian security establishment dictate what the social norms of our society should be. Each of us should ask what sort of a society we want to live in. We should not be willing to sacrifice other peoples rights and liberties just we can enjoy ours.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. God I am so damn preachy. I should stick to writing about movies I watch.

  2. I don’t think that’s preachy, you obviously have a strongly held opinion on this. Plus you’re right.

  3. Yeah. Man it bugs me when Canada acts a bit too much like the US.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
