Isn’t this really about how upward social mobility is difficult? I.e. poorer classes (vs middle class/rich), new immigrants (vs established), lower educated (vs educated), rural (vs. Urban) already/recently employed (vs. Entry-level) etc. Are the causes and these just happen to be correlate with race. I certainly agree that Black Americans have disadvantages, but if race isn’t the immediate/largest cause or other groups are also affected than affirmative action (based only on race) is not necessarily the best remedy.
