  1. Isn’t this really about how upward social mobility is difficult? I.e. poorer classes (vs middle class/rich), new immigrants (vs established), lower educated (vs educated), rural (vs. Urban) already/recently employed (vs. Entry-level) etc. Are the causes and these just happen to be correlate with race. I certainly agree that Black Americans have disadvantages, but if race isn’t the immediate/largest cause or other groups are also affected than affirmative action (based only on race) is not necessarily the best remedy.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
