Texas death row inmate Ray Jasper is scheduled to be put to death on March 19. He has written us a letter that, he acknowledges, “could be my final statement on earth.” It is well worth your time.

  1. Yes, the incentives are wrong when corporations make a profit from the length of sentences and number of prisoners. Society would be better off if the profit incentive was aligned with lowering the reoffence rate after prisoners are released from jail.     Ray’s letter was a good read and it brings up a lot of interesting points about how ridiculous the system is.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text.
