I think Gruber is right, it is too early to say one way or another what Apple plans to do with the system. I also think using the platform as the equivalent of a hardware dongle is reasonable, as you can see the entire macintosh line as essentially a hardware dongle for Mac OS.
That said, I also would be less inclined to buy a computer with all this trusted computing crap on the mother board. At this point in time I don’t think I would.
