Whitespace: On 37signals. ⇒

   10 August 2005, late afternoon

Great article critical of 37signals. The company should really reflect on the points it raises. Of course, 37signals linked to the article, so that's cool. This link was found via Signal vs. Noise.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. He raises valid points about the buzz that 37signals generates and how it often precedes the actual release of the product. But really its hard to take Paul seriously when he is the principal of 9 Rules. I wonder where he got the inspiration from?

  2. I liked his points on people being sheep. Though to be fair you see that a lot on the Internet. And I also can’t stand a bunch of the blogs at 9 Rules, but I’m not sure it has any of the same goals at 37signals. Anyway, it isn’t uncommon to see people try to generate traffic to their site by picking a fight with a bigger site.

  3. Regarding the blogs at 9Rules, I do read ForeverGeek regularly. If Denton and Calcanis are in the opposite ends of the spectrum, Paul is somewhere in the middle.

He also took on Zeldman on the past. So he is not short on controversy (or courage?). I suppose its good to stir things up to keep everybody honest.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
