A painting of me

Google Talk. ⇒

24 August 2005, the wee hours

That was fast -- Google Talk is live. You can download the Windows client now. Windows only software? Lame.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. That said, this part is not lame: “Google Talk currently does not encrypt chats or calls. But we are working hard to make many improvements to Google Talk while it is in beta, and we plan to fully support encryption of chats and calls before our official release.” [Google Talk Faq]

  2. Is the voice messaging working for you in iChat?

  3. Voice chat doesn’t work with iChat. Not surprising, really. A lot of their stuff starts out as Windows-only.

  4. Dave I saw that. But some folks are claiming otherwise as well. Hence my question.

  5. I’ve also heard rumours the voice chat works, but I don’t see how. On the iChat side, there is no option to start a voice chat. (At least I can’t initiate one with Mezan or my Cousin, both using the google client, or with my brother using iChat.) Perhaps Google people can start one with you, I don’t know know. Mezan and my cousin both didn’t try.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
