A painting of me

Kottke.org: These are the people in my (Web) neighborhood. ⇒

A good post on why we it is in our interests to keep the Internet healthy. (Specifically, why we shouldn't support sites that try and mess up search engines.)

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. Perspective from the folks at O’Reilly (the reason that pormpted the Kottke post).

I actually agree with Kottke. Something as good as the web deserves to be protected. Although often the web resembles the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul than the Library of Alexandria, it is a commons that should not be abused.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
