Spadina Subway Extension. ⇒

There are some plans to extend the Spadina subway line from Downsview Station out to York, and then further North to Steeles. I think this would be great. However, for people like my brother who used to trek to York from Scarborough, there is very little gain here. I think the city needs a real Sheppard subway line, one that actually spans the city. Scarborough is so disconnected from the cities public transit. This link was found via Bennybox.

If I lived in North York I’d hate myself. It’s a suburb with no soul. Give me Scarborough any day.

I think North York hate will last until Mel Lastman fades from recent memory. Too many years of what seemed like ridiculously favored treatment made the other boroughs unhappy.
You guys got fancy garbage pick-up while Scarborough seemed to get swept under the rug.

Everyone should suck it up, because York Region kicks all you asses.
All kidding aside, I agree that Scarborough has rather neglected relative to other regions like North York.
But since amalgamation, it seems like it’s finally an even playing field, but at the same time, the city as a whole seems tied to major fiscal constraints—which isn’t good.
Yes, I want the Sheppard East Extension to go forward too.

hey shima, what about when he was the mayor of the whole city and continued to let scarborough go to pot, that’s where I take beef. I don’t fault you guys for loving mayor mel back when he was only looking out for you. Also, that whole “going to Africa, hope I don’t get cooked in a big pot” thing was pretty dumb as well.
And York Region is just super, but don’t get me started on how a lot of residents there work and use the services of the city itself and then get angry when Toronto asks for a lion’s share of funding. This may or may not apply to you Matt, I’m just saying.

Dinu, you are right, he did more damage than good when he became the Mayor of Toronto, but for all it’s worth he was an okay Mayor when he was one for the city of North York…
Also, for future references, half the time I comment on Ram’s site I’m not actually being very serious. Plus, Scarborough is just too easy of a target and I’m heartless! :O
