Why Does God Hate Amputees? by Marshall Brain. ⇒

This site spawned a 200 comment thread at Metafilter. Personally, I find atheists who try to push their atheism on the religious to be as annoying as religious people who try to push their religion on you.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. Exactly. Its even more annoying that they connect it with Darwinism / Evolution as proof that God doesn’t exist. Evolution does not preclude the existence of a supreme being.

  2. Especially when it’s clear FSM is responsible for all things (good and piratey)
    rAmen.

I think the best “quote” rationalizing science & religion was from my high school physics teacher when I asked why he was religious. He stated something to the effect of “you can take science back to a certain point; the end of our sum total knowledge. and we don’t know what is past that but we believe it exists. so you make a leap of faith.”

  3. I can’t even believe you linked to this. What is this world coming to?

  4. Why not? It’s page after page on why God doesn’t exist, from the guy who brought us howstuffworks.com. It is interesting to read, though a lot of his arguments seem kind of weak; there are lots of generalizations.

  5. I don’t think he pushed it on anyone. I think it’s nice to have atheists explain their views. Of the article I did read, it does not clearly explain away god, more so it explains away the bible. Ram, you did have a post previously that more directly countered God, which I also enjoyed.

  6. For the reasons you outlined.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
