  1. Well, at least they are reasonably cute Nazi’s. And it’s a good thing I live in Toronto and it’s 2006 where things are slightly more comfortable then just 20 years ago.

Sometimes I forget how bad things were just 20 years ago, when the immigrant population in TO was still very very small, and just 40 years ago when racism was everywhere in the world. Just 40 years, really, sometimes we forget just how cruel the world was just slightly before “our time” (our time being anyone born in the last 20-30 years). Honestly, I feel very lucky.

As a further contrast, currently I’m working in Kentucky, USA, and I very much notice that things are different here. First, everyone is white, second people really do stare at me when I’m out shopping. Perhaps it’s because I act like I’m in Toronto, and I talk to them normally and in a friendly manner. Either way, it’s not just me noticing, my co-worker here also pointed it out that people look at me funny. Luckily I like the attention. =)

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
