The Hindu: From killing to killing. ⇒

   13 December 2005, late afternoon

A very good article on my biggest issue with the LTTE, their violent silencing of political dissent.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. The author of the article has written a book on Sri Lanka, which was reviewed by Frontline. It sounds quite interesting. The review mentions lots of other books and movies worth looking into if you are interested in the conflict. This quote at the end of the article is particularly poignant, and I agree with it whole-heartedly:

As Dayani, a Sinhala woman whose husband was probably killed in 1996 by the LTTE in Mullaithivu, says in condemnation of her own government, "Supporting the war is a luxury enjoyed only by those not affected by it."

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
