16 January 2006, early afternoon
Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. day. This link was found via Kottke.org.
This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.
can you imagine any politician quoting Aeschylus?
if it happened on the west wing people would probably call it unrealistic.

Seriously. It’s a shame you don’t hear speeches like that anymore. I liked Martin’s speech on same-sex marriage, but it really isn’t in the same league as some of these speeches from the 60s.

May be in the 60’s words were linked with action and that made it more powerful. These days its basically posturing.
