This review dispelled two of my fears, which was nice. The first was that I was going to have to bash my own head in with my G5 pre-iSight iMac. While the performance is solid, clearly it’s not much better than what I’ve already got. That said, the second concern I had was that this transition over to Intel might turn into a buggy clusterfuck, especially with Rosetta, but apparently things are moving along rather smoothly. I can’t wait to see what they end up producing for their super ridiculous high end 17” Intel PowerBook (count that as an official complaint about the crappy new laptop naming scheme).

Yes I agree, macbook pro is a lame name. Powerbook is by far the coolest name for a laptop. Titanium powerbook also sounds very cool. It would be interesting if they brought that back.

They probably won’t. The Titanium Powerbooks were notorious for getting scuffed up if I recall correctly. MacBook Pro sounds like the name of ledger software or something equally lame.

Why can’t they call it the XBook just like the XServes?

Because think about the plural. Do you know how confused people would be talking about XBooks?
Wait, what about the XBox?
No no. My new XBook…
