  1. you just gotta be shitting me.

well, not really. come to think of it, is anyone suprised?

  2. The brilliant thing is that nothing—and I mean nothing—is going to come of this.

This is also being discussed over at Metafilter.

  3. so “levees getting topped” is the same as “big ass hole in the levee”?

bush bashing is ok but atleast get your damn facts right.

  4. Isn’t the net effect the same? And Bush doesn’t get bashed nearly enough. Not nearly as much as he deserves.

  5. Isn’t the net effect the same?

Ram, are you suggesting that the end justifies the means?! ;)

What I am trying to say is many people over many years have been aware that even a Cat 3 storm would have breached the levees. This was a failure over multiple levels of govt, over multiple years spanning multiple administrations. There is enough blame to be passed around for everyone. And trust me, we don’t want to rely on the expert opinion of a president to know if a levee will survive. Its the job of others more qualified and they all fucking screwed up. The end result is not really the same because one (topping water) is controllable as in the water will recede after days. A big hole is a tad more challenging.

And we all know that Bush is a dick. Here is the latest example.

On a unrelated note, where is the review of your brand spanking iMac?

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
