A painting of me

MetaFilter: "The implied offense seems to be that he wants to keep the minorities as minorites, so his race doesn't lose power and cultural influence. Isn't this basically a sound strategy, both in a social and evolutionary sense?" ⇒

That was an actual comment from the Metafilter thread linked, which is essentially about about America's embarrassingly blatant march towards fascism.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. Ram, there’s a book called “Friendly Fascism: The New Face of Power in America” by Bertram Gross, which you might be really interested in reading. It’s tough to find a copy, but I’ve got one, if you’d like to borrow it.

Alternatively, you could check out the Consolidated record of the same name, which tackles a lot of the same issues in record form.

  2. Cool. I’ll keep an eye out for it. I just finished reading Discourse on Colonialism by Aime Cesaire, which was brilliant. I was going to read Confessions of an Economic Hitman next.

Don't be shy, you can comment too!

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
