Power Line: Miss Universe Heats Up. ⇒

   12 July 2006, evening time

Miss Sri Lanka? Meow. This link was found via Sepia Mutiny's serious discussion on silence in the blogosphere over the Mumbai bombings.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. Because nobody cares about terrorism anymore? It doesn’t shock us anymore. We seem to have accepted it as a part of our lives from now on.

And what will the Daily Kos write about it? They can’t blame it on India’s participation in Iraq or its pro-Israeli foreign policy. It doesn’t fit their agenda, so it doesn’t exist.

Looks like a Lashkar- e-Toiba job. This group operates out of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. They have had the financial support of Pakistan govt and army for the ages. Everybody knows this. But nothing will really happen. Because nobody gives a damn anymore.

BTW, Jacqueline Fernandez looks awesome! I will make a point to watch the event this year.

  2. Yeah LGF has actually covered the Mumbai bombings as opposed to Kos.

But then again, the Madrid bombing didn’t fit into Kos’s “agenda” either.

I don’t think it’s a secret that Kos is aimed at ousted Bush. That’s their angle, that’s their slant, and that’s where their coverage goes.

LGF’s slant is anti-Islam, so this fits into their “agenda” quite well.

I don’t expect US political blogs to necessarily weigh in with every terrorist attack around the world. If you want that perspective I’d suggest reading blogs that have a more world-view than DailyKos.

As for Miss Fernandez…not to take away from her Sri Lankan-ness at all, but are the Miss Sri Lankas always Burghers?
It seems that to win, you must have “European” features. [Thanks Capt. Obvious] Power Line hits that on the head with:

There has been a great deal of interest in Miss Sri Lanka, Jacqueline Fernandez—is that a Sri Lankan name?—who looks ravishing and sounds as though she grew up in Wisconsin.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
