The Namesake Trailer. ⇒

   5 September 2006, early evening

They are turningg Jhumpa Lahiri's excellent book The Namesake in to a movie starting Kal Pen of all people. I'm not sure why I never wrote about the book here; it's really quite good and I enjoyed reading it a lot. If you haven't read it you should. I think it does a good job of summing up some of the feelings children of immigrants sometimes feel -- conflicts of culture and things like that. The trailer is looking pretty good. (I can't imagine Mira Nair making a bad movie anyways.) Update: Anyone else realise that Tabu is playing the mother in the film. Crazy.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. That trailer does look pretty good. Anyways, I think Harold and Kumar touched on the sentiments of immigrant kids, though not quite to the same degree.

  2. That looks awesome! You better not watch the movie without me! 8o|

  3. Ram, let’s go watch this without Shima when it comes out.

  4. wtf?! Fine, I’m going to go watch all sorts of films and none of you guys are invited. See how you feel about that! That’s right! I said it!

BTW, I totally have the coolest helmet on the face of the planet!! :D

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
