A painting of me

I joked a few days back that Waterloo was minting Tamil Tigers, but the National Post seems to think this is the case. ⇒

I seriously doubt WATSA was giving meterial support to the Tigers, and that it was getting any support from them. I don't doubt that many of its members are fans of the LTTE. There are a lot of Tamil people that like the LTTE. Also, the Post seems to object to the LTTE's flag being used at an event. The Tigers were only banned as a group this year, and regardless of that, I can't imagine why in a free democracy people can't wave whatever flags they choose to around. Moreso, why would a University of all places care. Waterloo has to be the lamest school when it comes to political expression on campus. As I remember things, WATSA was more concerned with throwing BBQs, movie nights and dances, then with the conflict in Sri Lanka. Update: The Globe and Mail has this story as well, though less shrill.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
