A painting of me

Residents in Trinity Bellwoods are complaining about all the hos -- stanky ass hos. ⇒

   27 September 2006, lunch time

My cousin used to live in the area before it got all expensive and nice. I'm impressed the prostitutes haven't been squeezed out of the area.

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. With all the gentrification going on in Toronto, I’d be surprised “the hos—stanky ass hos” don’t end up in the suburbs! Where else can they go now that all the Yuppies have taken over! I hate all these Yuppies who decide they’re going to be NIMBYs as soon as they move into a Toronto ghettos…Stupid idiots… Don’t they know what kind of area they’re moving into?

  2. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being proactive about stopping prostitution, or trying to make it safer for the women involved. But yeah, I find it annoying when people move into a slummy part of town, and are surprised to find poor people living there. (There are two mailing lists I’m on that discuss the area I live in: the DigIn mailing list, and the BeBloor Owners Association mailing list. You can take a guess as to which one is full of obnoxious people.)

“Hos—Stanky ass hos” is a line from a Wu-Tang song.

  3. 1. I had to look up what NIMBY means.
    2. Ram, you should get on your condo board. You would, without even trying, “cause a ruckus”. This could easily be spun into a popular online reality show.

  4. It could be called “Ram and the BOA”. I think i’m too much of a communist to join those sorts of groups. I also am not picky enough to really gripe about anything.

  5. I think i’m already starting to rock the boat ever so slightly. The people on that list need to calm the down. They’re all afraid of getting mugged in the building and complain about our deadbolts not being secure enough. (Our deadbolts are set in metal fire doors door, and lock into a metal door frame. Seriously now.) Of course, after saying all this, someones going to kick in my door and mug me. Oh, and there was a big discussion on people hanging stuff on their doors (like christmas wreaths). Fucking condos.

  6. I feel like I need to join this board just to make sure they don’t do stupid shit. They are all afraid of B&Es, yet I don’t think there have been any in the building. It’s all just a big feedback loop of fear on that board. Damn it.

  7. If he can be on the social committee at work, he can do this as well.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
