How popular is Olberman down in the states? Are his editorials actually doing anything effective?

This is a post from my link log: If you click the title of this post you will be taken the web page I am discussing.

  1. I watch them and love them, but I see them on Reddit. His ratings are inproving and he is becoming competitive with O’Reilly, so that’s a decent start. It’s hard for me to imagine him becoming a huge deal, though. Honestly, Jon Stewart is the big voice of reason here, and even he would admit that that’s a little crazy, given that he does a comedy show. He and Colbert are actually big guns down here, no matter how much anyone downplays them.

  2. i wish he would take on a less angry tone.

  3. Really? But he should be angry. All of us should be so angry. The administration blatantly lies all the time, is making a successful effort to dismantle national and international laws, and almost no one in the media here is standing up and saying a word about it. It’s insanity. If we can’t take on an angry tone about that, what is there for us to be angry about?

  4. I’m with Ben; what’s going on in the states is hardly something to be calm about. These editorials are great stuff.

  5. Olberman sometimes sounds as zealous as O’Reilly. That makes me uncomfortable.

  6. He’s usually not inaccurate in what he has to say. He also doesn’t yell at his guests. I think he’s got a long way to go before you can compare him to O’Reilly.

Some things to keep in mind: You can style comments using Textile. In particular, *text* will get turned into text and _text_ will get turned into text. You can post a link using the command "linktext":link, so something like "google":http://www.google.com will get turned in to google. I may erase off-topic comments, or edit poorly formatted comments; I do this very rarely.
